5 Steps to a Beautiful Mind

A beautiful mind must, by universal spiritual law, create a beautiful life. Here are 5 steps:
1. Attention: : pay attention to your thoughts. Are they what you want to create more of?
2. Purification: Let go of thoughts that discourage, disturb, diminish you. Stop the moment you catch yourself.
3. Identification: Fill the vacuum with any positive, life-affirming thought. Identify with a divine quality---love, joy, peace, beauty, courage...
4. Magnification: Thank God for helping change your mind; feed the good thoughts and feelings with more like them.
5. Action: Take positive action; find a way to express something positive...write a gratitude list, make a phone call to a friend; tell someone how much you appreciate them; do a good deed.

Practice makes perfect.

New Beginnings: You Gotta Have Hope

Finish this sentence: There is a person inside of me who wants to......
Then consider what fulfilling that desire would take. Probably somewhere in the list "hope" would show up. If not, it will need to. Why? Because whether it's a matter of fulfilling our desires or overcoming a difficulty or disappointment, hope is the fuel for moving forward.

Consider my friend Daniel. He and Kate, the love of his life, had finally decided that their careers, which has kept them 2000 miles apart for six year, had to take a back seat to their love for one another. Kate found a job in California and on New Year's Eve Daniel proposed and slipped a ring on her finger. New beginning! It seemed like the hope that had flickered but never died had at last been fulfilled. It was short-lived, though. On New Year's Day Daniel was out for a bike ride and was struct by a car. The driver left Daniel for dead.

Hope was hard to come by those next twelve months as Daniel struggled for life--for breath.
His body was broken and often it seemed that his spirit was too. Kate came to his bedside daily. She was tireless in speaking words of hope in Daniel's ear as he lay in an induced coma.
One year and 37 surgeries later, hope won out. Daniel miraculously walked out of the hospital. Keep the fire of hope burning!

Our Need To Let God

The power to let go is more potent than we might at first think. With a spiritual mind set enfolded in a prayer for release, it, sometimes quickly, some slowly, erases from our mind and heart what no longer serves us.

We can let go of troubling emotions and self-defeating thoughts. The Keys:
1. Notice the thought and where it will take you if you continue.
2. Give it to God--The Wisdom and Love of God know what to do with it.
3. Replace it with a positive thought--like something you are grateful for; something that makes you smile.
4. Don't let the negative thought or emotion back in. Close the door of your mind on it.

The Serenity Prayer is perfect for this practice: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can (myself and my own thoughts), and the wisdom to know the difference.

UNCONQUERABLE LOVE GROWS FROM UNREASONABLE LOVE. Unreasonable love comes from the Source, God. It is the kind for grows everytime we overcome fear, resentment, making others wrong and withholding our love for any reason. The gifts include a sense of freedom and joy and a peace that passes all understanding.
1. Is there somewhere I’ve been withholding my love? Give it
2. Is there something I have left unsaid, that if I said it I would be freed up in my capacity to love? Say it
3. Is there a promise I’ve made to myself that I have not kept? Do it
4. Has someone broken a promise to me or not given me what I want and I am holding them hostage in my heart? Unlock it.
5. If I loved myself and the divine in me in an unreasonable way, how would I be? Be it.

As the Easter Season comes to a close, it's a good time to reflect on the reason for the season. The promise of getting into the Lenten practices is a personal resurrection from some sense of lack or limit; from some sense of being held back. It is the promise of a renewal of hope in the great possibilities for your life.
The practices are simple but not easy. They take rigorous discipline--the discipline of taking dominion of our thoughts, words and actions. The framework is "fast & feast". We are to fast from all thoughts, words and actions that diminish our vitality and sense of well-being. We are to feast on all that brings joy to our hearts, meaningful purpose to our lives, and fires our fondest hopes and highest dreams.
Forty days ....only only 5 left. Make it count.

Gratitude is the great healer and multiplier of good. The high vibration of grateful thoughts, words and action positively affects the biochemistry and hence promotes healing. It also heals the mind and protects it against negativity and resentments.

Three things that eliminate stress

I was heard a renouned doctor say that all disease is brought on by stress. At the very minimal stress is uncomfortable. Beyond that it blocks our imagination from generating creative solutions.
Three things that dissolve stress:
1. Live in the now moment. Stay out of imagining worst case scenarious. That is living in the future. Stay out of the problem. That is living in the past.
2. Pray for guidance and then let go of the problem.
3. Find someone to help or some way to be in service.

Prayer
God of dazzling abundance and infinite generosity and goodness, create in me a grateful hearet, one that trusts in the beautiful possibilities for my life even when I can't see them. Create in me a big heart so taht I can appreciate all the good that fills my days. It's been said that our purpose here is to develop and express our divine potential. In his bood "Good To Great" Jim Collins says, "Indeed, the real question is not 'Why greatness?' but, what work makes you fell compelled to try to create greatness."

New suggests change--change from what was to something new; change from waht was not to what is now. What might we change in order to, with intention, develop and express our true greatness--our divine potential. Dare more, make a dream come true, give in selfless service, do one good deed a day, learn something new....the list is personal and endless at the same time. There is no limit to the good we can do -- one day at a time.

Good Decisions, Right Action

There is a wisdom greater than our own intelligence can fathom. It can be called by many names--Divine Intelligence, Spirit, the Divine. I'll call it Divine Wisdom. This wisdom will always guide you to choose what gives you life and joy and vitality. It will lead you to say "yes" to what will set you free and to say "no" to what feeds a sensze of dissatisfaction, discontent and disillusionment. It will raise you into the realm of Divine Mind where you will see clearly and know rightly and act wisely.
Wisdom hardly ever leads us down the easier, softer way, though. Yet, it will unfailingly lead you to what grows and expands your soul.

One of my favorite "wisdom" affirmations is: "I know what to do and I do it." Try it when you are stuck or stumped with the intention to call on and receive from God.

Greatness

Dear Friends,
There is just no getting away from it--Love is here to stay. It will not be denied except at risk to any sense of peace and joy.

A few years back I was invited to do an “Intensive” with the Ministerial classes at Unity Village. An “Intensive” meant an intense exploration of a particular topic. It was a three-day experience, eight hours a day. I was asked to explore with the principles and practices that create a thriving ministry. Here is the only thing I remember saying some twelve years ago to those students: “Life is all about relationship.” I came to believe it then and I still believe it today. I have never had any evidence that would change my mind about that.
Jesus Christ, our Wayshower, didn’t kid around about love. He said over and over in many different ways, “Love one another”. He advised working at it until we could do it perfectly. Asking a lot? Yes, indeed. Is it worth all the effort we can give it? Absolutely. We are promised the reward of a heavenly life. Who could ask for more?
Think about it. What challenges you the most and blesses you the most? I am willing to bet that it is relationships. This month we step into the realm of the Law of Love and consider together some highly effective habits for anchoring heaven in our relationships.
